17 Weeks Pregnant
As your baby bump grows bigger, your baby grows to the size of your palm. You can almost imagine it looks like the size of a cute squirrel!
The bones of your baby start growing stronger and its body structures start to develop and be distinguishable.
Your baby’s lungs finish branching and get ready to breathe on their own. The placenta grows thicker which helps it to carry on survival for the next months in your womb.
Diet to follow – 17 weeks pregnant
By now that you have already got accustomed to the diet you should follow, let’s brush up once again.
- Consume food that consists of omega acids, as this helps your baby’s eye development and brain growth.
- For vegetarians, there are other alternatives like tofu, green leafy vegetables, milk, soya etc.
- Eat healthy snacks that mainly consists of fruits and smoothies of fruits like apples, bananas etc.
- Your baby needs a sufficient amount of iodine so eat fresh food and cereals, pulses, cheese, butter, fish (mackerel, prawn, haddock, salmon etc)
Say no to alcohol and smoke!
As you are perhaps already avoiding hard drinks that contain alcohol and avoiding smoking any narcotic, we ask you to continue to do the same. A little tough to restrict for some time but it is the best for you and your baby.
What to read during pregnancy?
As curiosity increases, you tend to want to read more books on pregnancy. But reading the right books is very important as women are very impressionable during these weeks and what they read, affects the psychological health of women a lot.

How to cope with your partner?
With great responsibility comes great changes. It’s not you who undergoes changes during pregnancy, your spouse goes through various mental changes too!
During this time as cranky as you might feel being, it is sometimes wise to be cooperative too. Share your problems with your spouse. Communication is the main key to a stress-free way to completion in 9 months. Be cheerful but don’t fake it. It is okay to feel irritated and those morning sicknesses might be too much to handle, but like some great saint once said, “This shall too pass”, you will go through it.
Be there for your partner. You will realize that it is a beautiful journey of womanhood.
