24 Weeks Pregnant

- By week 24, the fetus develops the sleeping and waking patterns of the baby. Pigmentation of skin and formation of baby’s hand and footprints is going on.
Symptoms – 24 weeks pregnant
By now you may be suffering from severe back aches as your back muscles have to perform various tasks such as to maintain to increasing body weight. As your baby is growing so is your uterus and due to which muscles especially back muscles have to remain constrained and curved to manage the extra weight.
Due to increasing size of the uterus, you’ll get stretch marks on your belly. These marks will go off after the birth of your little one.
Legs carry weight and with the increased weight it is difficult for them to carry your weight. So you’ll have to face leg cramps. Dehydration too causes leg cramps. So drink as much water as you can!
Swollen ankles and feet
Walking can help you to get rid of swollen ankles and feet. If you experience sudden swelling during pregnancy then it is a dangerous sign of preeclampsia. Contact your doctor as soon as possible.
It is a dark line at the center of the belly. It occurs due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. It will go off after the delivery of your baby.

What is Surfactant?
Surfactants are secreted in the alveolar space by epithelial cells. They are composed of lipids and proteins. They reduce surface tension in the lungs and carry out the proper expulsion of carbon dioxide.
Diet to follow – 24 weeks pregnant
You should take a proper amount of vitamin A as it is essential for your baby’s development. It is essential for:
- Night vision
- Cell growth
- Healthy skin
- Red blood cell production
Vitamin A exists in two forms retinol and beta-carotene. Both the forms are required during pregnancy for proper development of your baby and to maintain your health. Retinol is found in egg yolk, butter, milk, and margarine. Sources of beta-carotene are carrot, sweet potato, orange and green vegetables especially broccoli and spinach. Average pregnant women must daily consume around 1000RD of vitamin A. Vitamin A helps in the development of baby’s heart, lungs, kidneys, eyes, and bones along with circulatory, respiratory and central nervous system.
