The need of the time – Counselling
With the Board examination approaching round the corner there is a natural tendency of increasing fear, stress, tension and anxiety among the children and the parents. The failure to resolve this explosive trauma may sometimes lead to very agonizing and distressing results. Thankfully all these situations can now be resolved in a very positive way if the children and their parents get proper help from a properly qualified person which is a counsellor.
As our PM mentioned in his speech there exist a strong resistance from a common man about the word counselling. Just like when we are sick we approach a doctor for help, counselling is professional help for a stressful situation. On our own, we cannot resolve this stress as we are not aware of the causes or method of resolving stress. Hence it is perfectly OK to get proper help from a counsellor who is well trained for such a situation.
Secondly, as the examination approaches the schools can also arrange for counselling for the all the students of the class in three or four sessions. They can have a minimum, two sessions for the parents too where they can discuss all the various activities connected with the examination such as the proper nutrients, relaxation, rest and sleep etc. for the children and how the parents should have detailed planning for all these activities
Finally, the parents and the schools should not miss the main goal of education — that the children’s wellness both physical and mental is more important than just scoring high grades in examination.
In my next blogs, I will discuss more on the way of studying and other activities, focusing on the examination. Until then, happy reading.
