Gajrela Recipe

Gajrela is commonly known as Gajar Ka Halwa. There are many ways to prepare gajrela recipe. In this recipe, the carrots are pressure-cooked with milk. Gajrela is prepared especially during winters as carrots come in abundance. It is a very tasty dessert and almost everyone’s favourite. Ingredients for Gajrela recipe

To make the Gajrela

  • Carrot/gajar  –  2 kg
  • Milk  –  2 liter
  • Mawa/whole dried milk  –  1/2 cup
  • Clarified butter  –   4 tbsp
  • Sugar  –  1/2 cup
  • Cardamom powder   –  1/4 tsp
  • Dry fruits  –  2 tbsp

Preparation Of Gajrela recipe

To make the Gajrela

  • Wash and chop the carrot.
  • Pressure cook the chopped carrot and milk.
  • When the cooker releases whistle, switch off the flame.
  • Once cooled, open the lid.
  • Heat clarified butter in a pan and transfer the carrot.
  • Stir continuously till thick.
  • Simmer the flame. When the mixture (milk and carrot) gets dried, add mawa and sugar and saute for 4 – 5 mins.
  • Add cardamom powder and dry fruits and mix well.
  • Garnish with almonds, cashew nuts and raisins.

Tips

  • One can cook the milk and carrot mixture in a pan too. But this procedure will take more time.
