To make the Moong Matar Khichdi With Gajar Ka Halwa

  • Moong dal 1 cup
  • Rice 1/2 cup
  • Green peas 1 cup
  • Crushed garlic 10
  • Crushed ginger 1 teaspoon
  • Dalchini pc 1
  • Cloves 8 to 10 Crush black pepper
  • 8 to 10 Salt to taste
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Ghee /oil 1 tablespoon
  • Rai 1 teaspoon
  • Jeera 1 teaspoon

For Gajar Ka Halwa

  • Desi Gajar or Red carrot 1 kg
  • Whole milk 1 litre
  • Sugar 2 cups
  • Malai 1 cup
  • Ghee 2 cups
  • Cardamom powder 2 pinches
  • Chopped dry fruits 2 tablespoons

To make the Moong Matar Khichdi With Gajar Ka Halwa

  • Wash Moong dal and rice and soak in sufficient water for some time.

  • Heat ghee/oil in cooker and crackle rai and jeera.
  • Add crushed garlic and ginger, crushed cloves and black pepper.
  • Add turmeric powder and dalchini pcs.

  • Saute little and add soaked dal and rice with green peas.

  • Add water as per need and adjust salt to taste.

  • Mix well and pressure cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot.
  • Drizzle some more ghee before serving

Gajar ka Halwa

  • Wash, peel and grate carrots.
  • With one cup of water pressure cook these grated carrots for one whistle.
  • Boil milk in a heavy bottomed wok, add boiled carrots with all its water in the milk and let it simmer till it gets thickened while stirring in between.
  • Add cream, mix well and stir constantly.
  • After 5-6 minutes, add sugar and mix well.
  • Cook with constant stirring till it gets thick, add ghee and mix well.
  • Turn the flame off, mix dry fruits and elaichi powder.
  • Serve hot.
